Hi If you read the title, thanks! In this case, I am the 20 year old guy June with a 16 year old girlfriend August I've read a lot and done some investigation, and I know the relationship with the girl I'm seeing is questionable and frowned upon.
But I assure you, not every guy my age is lusting after sex. I just happened to run into her via some friends and found out about her age later, and I was okay with it because I liked her very much She's a shy, quiet girl who doesn't talks much with guys and reads a damn lot.
But I just had a pretty tough conversations with my parents about this, and I'm starting having doubts as well. In the end, they accepted it since they like her, though. I've been through two serieus relationships one two years, other one and a half years and I'm her first boyfriend, even one of the first guys she ever talked to.
They think we're on two totally different levels, and in some ways they are right. Yeah, she can be more mature than me at times, but it still is noticable I'm actually dating a 16 year old girl. I'm also starting to think we don't want the same from a relationship.
I'm even wondering if she likes me at all, at times. She just isn't opening up to me, maybe because she's scared of me she mentioned because I'm a lot older it's extra hard for her but that also hurts my side, since you don't want to hear from your partner she's scared of being with you at times. She also occasionly avoids me or doesn't do much effort to be with me.
Again, what I mean here are no sexual intentions, just being with her. Then we come back to the age gap. She's in the prime of her youth, where she will change a lot and experience tons of new things. I'm fearing it will change too much, and she'll eventually Im 20 Dating A 16 Year Old me like my ex did, when she experienced the outgoing life, she wanted to be free.
I don't want to be a snack, or be with her all for nothing because it might wind up being the same as her. I think that's most of the info I can give. Next time I'll see her I'm going to have a talk with her about this. That will be somewhere next week, and I'd like to hear some honest opinions from you so I can take that in consideration Other info: We're at the same school, same years different education I'm doing a higher study at this school, hence the age difference.

I don't understand Will's advice since it has nothing to Im 20 Dating A 16 Year Old with what you asked. The age difference could be a problem. Ultimately, the age difference could ruin the relationship.
She's young, so she's going to want to be free and be able to experience new things. On top of that, you're 20 and she's 16, so there IS a matter of maturity levels here. You say she acts more mature than you sometimes, but the fact of the matter is she should act mature all the time.
Obviously, this is a one-sided relationship. She isn't putting much effort into the relationship to begin with, on top of the other factors.
Hes 21 Im 15
Ultimately, the decision is up to read more, but I don't see how this is going to work out for you in the long run. People at different ages don't act like some foreign aliens to each other the way some people seem to present it, the difference is negligible at times. Maturity is a word thrown around way too much in this situation, I could give a shit how 'mature' a girl is, as long as it's fun to be around her.
It really is all how you perceive it, those inevitable moments where the difference in age is so clearly pointed out might be awkward to some, while others find it humorous. The fact that you had to make this thread in the first place makes me think the age difference might slightly bother you.
Plus, like Shannon said, the way you describe her sounds like she doesn't even like you as much as you like her. Oh and the age of consent is 16 in the Netherlands, you're fine. Life and Music https: This one is a hard one.
Unfortunately, because I have know several girls who have been destroyed by older boys; I am alittle bit bias to this situation. I agree with Shannon BTW. As for wills comment - I think that age does matter, and in this case, It matters alot. You have to understand, you are feeling heat from your learn more here, and maybe even her friends - well imagine the heat she is getting.
Imagine what her parents would say, what alot of her friends would say about this. Sure, year difference doesn't sound to bad, but it is when you are younger. As you said, she is going through changes, and she will want to do her own thing and not be committed to a relationship - and the relationships she will be involved with are just learning experiences - but you visit web page the other hand Im 20 Dating A 16 Year Old looking for a lasting relationship; I'm almost certain you aren't going to have a lasting relationship with this girl.
Like I said before, I have alittle bit of a Im 20 Dating A 16 Year Old due to me seeing girls get destroyed by older guys, and girls being so controlled and memorized by older guys that they have lived a life of drugs, alcohol, and sexual abuse not saying that this would be the case in this situation.
I hope you can understand both sides IE: Chris I hope you know that you deserve it all. The best, the most honest, the most beautiful purest love in the world. Not only to be loved by others, but to be loved by yourself. To look in the mirror and think "Yes, I'm exactly who I want to be". To speak up and be proud of yourself. To be brave and open.
You deserve the nicest and most caring people to walk into your life. You deserve it all, you know.
If you're not trying to have sex with her and she's not making enough any effort to be with you, then why can't you just remove the current labels and be 'just friends'. She'll probably open up more, you can go find a girlfriend your age and yeah But that's a big IF.
Hey thereThis thread is interesting, because I am 21 and my girlfriend is 17, so the same age gap as you. Firstly I think the age gap is on the edge of what Im 20 Dating A 16 Year Old acceptable, it may be silly but the formula to test the "acceptable" age gap is to divide your own age by two and plus 7, so you would be just outside that.
If both parents are okay then it should not cause any problems, and age in itself, is not an obstacle. However maturity levels do matter, in my relationship the age difference has never been a problem because we are both at the same level maturity wise- We both have the capacity to be serious and terribly immature, but I never think, oh she's acting like such an 17 year old.
Her age doesn't come into it. We open up to each other, but again, age is not a factor in that- the problem isn't the fact that there's an age gap, but that you both clearly have problems connecting because of the age gap. I don't agree with the notion that because of her age she won't here able to commit, as every individual is different, and I don't think anyone can dictate at what age someone is ready for a serious relationship or not; she might change a lot in the next few years, however there is nothing to say that she won't grow closer to you, and into the same person you like now- but older smarter and more experienced.
However, the fact that she doesn't put in effort, and she seems to actively avoid continue reading is cause for concern- but again not directly related to the age.
On the face of it, it usually can be interpreted that she is having doubts, or is unsure of the relationship, but it could be any number of things.
I'm wondering if I should just drop the hope of achieving a relationship for the future with him How long exactly have you two been together? You cant see it? Too many things to go wrong here not anything good can come out of it.
What is important is that you do talk to her about it, try to find out whys he is acting this way and try to seek any ways to fix it, if things need to be fixed. However remember age gaps in itself is not a determinant of relationship failure, however maturity gaps can be. Impossible is a word to be found only in the dictionary of fools.
I'm even wondering if she likes me at all, at times. I honestly don't know. Unfortunately, because I have know several girls who have been destroyed by older boys; I am alittle bit bias to this situation.
To do all that one is able to do, Is to be a man ; To do all that one would like to do, Is to be a god. I smile at the age gap.
About the competition
It isn't too bad my cousin's 12 dating a 17 year old boy which in many ways is wrong. But as for you guys it's fine. I know she's still young and may be confused and hormone driven but ask her what she really wants from the relationship. It may be a hard question for her to answer, and that's fine. I didn't know what I wanted out of a relationship until one bit me in the hind end. To let you know about the legal age of consent in Netherlands http: You can't live a positive life with a negative mind and if you have a positive outcome you have a positive income and just to have more positivity and just to kind of laugh it off.
My older sister and her husband met when she was 16 and he was I'm not fond of relationships with such a huge age gap when one partner is a minor, but I don't think it's not possible to have a healthy relationship Be on the same paths and headed into the same direction. As you said she doesn't seem that interested in a relationship, this may or may not be true.
She may just be afraid you'll find someone your own age willing to gove you all your want and continue reading doesn't want to get hurt You as the older male have to foster a healthy balance of protection and fun for her if she's worried about getting hurt.
